I would like to suggest that in relation to ecosonics we drop the word (and if possible, the concept) of 'improvisation' and use 'interaction' instead. 'Improvisation' is a Gordian Knot of so many different historical, cultural, personal and emotive meanings, connotations, idealogies and practices, and I think we should cut it. Thinking in terms of 'interactions' will, I believe, allow us to focus specifically on what we are doing with ecosonics. (Stephen)
Here is the article Improvisation as 'Other' by Laudan Nooshin, which gives a non-Western perspective on the historical Western concept of improvisation.
